Fluvanna Golf at Its Best

The golf season in the area is beginning with enthusiasm with a little help from Mother Nature.  The recent rains have created an environment for new growth with dogwoods in bloom and the fairway grasses showing some greenery.  It takes twenty five degrees at night to fully allow the Bermuda fairways to green up and fill in.  This is happening now and even some mowing has become necessary.  Golf events are being scheduled and promoted at Lake Monticello as well as surrounding area golf courses.  Our volunteer golf course cleaning crew is helping us keep our course clean.  This program was initiated by the golf committee and Jack Hartwell is the dedicated organizer who has done a great job of putting this program together.  Best of luck and keep up the good work.

The Golfers’ Youth Development Foundation held its first outing of the year.  The weather cooperated and everyone had a great time.  Prizes were awarded to the winners and a social event was held after the tournament was over.  The event was catered by the Eagles Nest which did a fine job of providing the service.  Hopefully we can plan more enjoyable events throughout the year.

Well, the birds are singing, spring is here, and golfers are raring to go.  The weather has been somewhat erratic, but some days have been nice nevertheless.  Fairways are showing signs of a little greenery and with a few warm nights it will join Mother Nature and turn green.  The maintenance crew at Lake Monticello has been working hard to prepare the course for the year.
