But that is how Payne, 70, spent part of his November – at Jet Blue Stadium in Fort Meyers, Fla. catching for the Tri-Cities team in the Roy Hobbs World Series. Hobbs is adult amateur recreation baseball with teams across the United States.

The Insurance Services Office just upgraded its rating for the Lake Monticello’s Volunteer Fire Department and that’s good news for people served by the department.
LMVF Chief Scott Carpenter said homeowner’s insurance premiums could go down by as much as $100 because of the new ISO rating.

More than 20 agencies sent representatives to plead their funding case to the Board of Supervisors which met on Wednesday (Feb. 27) evening.
Last year the Board surprised most when it decided to cut funding to several key agencies altogether: Jefferson Area Board on Aging, Piedmont Virginia Community College, Piedmont Workforce Network, Offender Aid and Restoration and JAUNT.
