Three defendants indicted on October 26th appeared in Fluvanna County Circuit Court to answer charges of possession of marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.
Tyler Gray Barker and Steven Richard Poore obtained continuances until December 4th to allow them time to retain attorneys. Attorney Stephanie Commander was appointed to represent Rico Dante Megginson whose formal arraignment was set for December 11th.
Kelly Lynette Broughman, charged with intent to defraud by issuing a check knowing there were insufficient funds to cover it, had her arraignment postponed until November 20 when she will be required to appear with her court appointed attorney. Codefendant Jessica Ashley Shephard, appearing without an attorney, saw the charge against her reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed conditioned upon her paying court costs by December 17th.
A conviction of Filing a False Report to Law Enforcement Authorities resulted in a six month suspended sentence for Amy Michelle Chisolm.
Charles Edward Morton was charged with violation of his probation for failing to pay court costs that were part of his original sentence. Morton received an active jail sentence of one month for his conviction on a charge of possession of Cocaine. The probation part of his sentence required him to pay $2,045 in court costs. The court decided to terminate supervised probation and turned the issue of repayment of court costs to the Court Debt Collections Unit.
The case of Michelle Turner Gentry, which was scheduled for trial on a charge of Welfare Fraud, was continued with the consent of all parties until December 11 so that a plea agreement can be considered.
Carl Randolph Creasy, indicted on a charge of Welfare Fraud on October 26, has not yet been apprehended. His arrest is being sought.
